JASDEEP KANG

FILM, PHOTO, SOUND

As a multidisciplinary artist in film, sound, and photo, Jasdeep's storytelling strikes a subtle balance between reality and fantasy, where time is traveled and spirits are present. She is most inspired by death, the earth, and dreamworlds, believing that these three hold the power to inspire healing and collective change.

Jasdeep has worked as a director and producer in film for 10 years with a diverse set of brands including Times Square Arts, HBOmax, Hakuhodo Inc, Art in America, The Shed, Surface Magazine’s Cover Story on the Guerrilla Girls, Facebook, ESPN, British Airways, Snapchat, CFDA, and a 14 episode documentary titled flow state which won two NY Emmy in Arts & Entertainment

HBOMax, i-D, KQED Arts have regarded Jasdeep as an up and coming director to watch. Her works have screened at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Herbert Von King Cultural Arts Center, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

Jasdeep has naturally immersed themselves in film scoring, composing for commercial, documentary, and narrative projects.

Additionally Kang is a DJ, through her project Jakari Wing, performing at Brooklyn Museum's First Saturday, Live at The Dumbo Archway, with her sounds being featured on NTS Radio, KCR Radio, and Boxout.fm.

She is a cofounder Disco Auntie,  a quarterly queer NYC dance party and DJ collective platforming the music of the South Asian diaspora.

"Kang’s collaborations are mighty, perhaps due to the care with which the

filmmaker decides her projects." KQED Arts
